Brief on CatalyticReactions to Maximize Production and Minimize Pollution (MPMP) by SSEH Elnashaie* in Research & Development in Material Science One of the main techniques for pollution control and achieving green technology is to achieve MPMP. Almost all catalytic reactions in the Petroleum refining and petrochemical industry are reversible and therefore their conversion is limited by the thermodynamic equilibrium. This conservative limitation can be broken by using selective membranes to remove one of the products. In this couple of pages editorial this revolutionary concept leading to MPMP is used for the dehydrogenation reaction where the selective membranes are used for the perm-selective removal of hydrogen [1-3]. These membranes have 100% selectivity for the removal of hydrogen. Most efficient configuration is when in the other side of the membrane is a hydrogenation reaction and the flows in the two sides of the membrane are counter-current. Such MPMP for catalyt...

Bio-Inspired H2 Production Catalysts- Crimson Publishers

Image
Bio-Inspired H2 Production Catalysts by Arnab Dutta in Research & Development in Material Science Hydrogen is considered as one of the best possible energy vector that can effectively store the otherwise intermittent solar energy for proficient renewable energy usage. Conversion of protons to hydrogen is the heart of this scheme and this reaction requires the presence of a catalyst. Currently, the expensive Platinum (Pt)‐ based materials are available as one of the best catalysts but its low abundance is a barrier for its worldwide usage. Naturally occurring [FeFe]‐ and [NiFe]‐hydrogenases can also efficiently perform the H2 production reaction albeit only in a narrow chemical space (25‐40 °C, pH 4‐8, mostly in absence of O2). https://crimsonpublishers.com/rdms/fulltext/RDMS.000524.php For more Open access journals in  Crimson Publishers  please click on below link https://crimsonpublishers.com For more article in  Research & Developme...
