Hepatotoxic Effects of the Methanol Extract of Senna Siemea in Wister Rats by Eze SOO* in Crimson Publishers: Peer Reviewed Material Science Journals Senna siamea is a plant used in the tradomedicinal practice for the treatment of malaria. Despite its efficacy, there is no scientific information concerning the safety of the plant extract on the liver hence, the study evaluated the effect of the methanol extract on liver function enzymes in wistar albino rats. Thirty two rats weighing between 180-210g were randomly grouped into four of 8 rats each. Group 1(control group) received normal saline, while groups 2, 3 and 4 received orally 100, 200 and 400mg/kg/body weight of the extract. Two animals were sacrificed on weeks 1, 2, 3 and 4 respectively and both blood and organ samples were collected. https://crimsonpublishers.com/rdms/fulltext/RDMS.000576.php For more Open access journals in Crimson Publishers please click on below link https://crimsonpublishersresearch.com/ For mor...

Shear Field Size Effect on Determining the Shear Modulus of Glulam beam - Crimson Publishers

Image
Shear Field Size Effect on Determining the Shear Modulus of Glulam beam by Niaz Gharavi* in Crimson Publishers: Peer Reviewed Material Science Journals The shear modulus of a timber beam can be determined using torsion test or shear field test method. The shear field test method is based on the measurement of the shear distortion of the beam at the zone with a constant transverse load in the standardized four-point bending test. The current code of practice advises using two metallic arms act as an instrument to measure the diagonal displacement of the constructing square. The size of the constructing square might influence the shear modulus determination. This study aims to investigate the size effect in the shear field test method. Six glue laminated beams were produced and tested. Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) was performed on the acquired data to evaluate the significance of size effect of the square. The results have shown that the size of the square has a noticeable in...
